I showed my Dad the video “The Egg” before I went in for my treatment. We had some time before my appointment and had been talking about what God has been doing in our lives since my diagnosis and he really liked it!...

It gave us a new perspective on “For God so loved the world” and it was pretty magical to connect with my father over that.

The video depicts a cartoon man being hit by a semi truck and then being treated by God.  It gave us a new perspective on “For God so loved the world” and it was pretty magical to connect with my father over that.  And then I almost died...and Jesus made me laugh about it. Here’s what happened...

I began my treatment about 11 am that Thursday morning and for about an hour and half into the four hour treatment things were going great, until I’ll suddenly, things took a turn for the dire as my body violently began to reject the treatment and began shutting down all together. I hit my nurses call button for help and no one came, I looked around and realized there was no nurse staff on the entire infusion floor- I started to panic, attempting to cry out, “Help...Help!” But all that would come out was a weak gasping for air as my lungs were closing fast.

Right in the thick of it when I could feel myself about to pass out as the nurses were rushing over. First walking back from their stations then running in full on emergency mode. At first they couldn’t find the Benadryl or the steroids they needed to reverse the reaction. The second nurse stepped in and took off her glove to hold my hand skin to skin, trying to get me to control my breathing but all I could do was gasp for air as my heart rate sailed from 110 to about 175 in about 30 seconds bringing on a full cardiac arrest. I could feel my body crashing and started to see the white curtains closing as I could feel myself leaving my body.

I saw the look in the nurse’s eyes like she knew she might have to watch this man die in front of her today as she done before and she had a strange calm about it that scared me, when suddenly, that plentiful jokester, Jesus chimes in with, (hearing his voice in my head say,) “oh no, silly it’s not today, I have plans for you yet, plus there are no semis here” and in that moment, for a fraction of a second, it brought me back and then the other nurse hit me with the shot of steroids and they got me oxygen and it took about 10 minutes total for things to finally take effect but it will probably be the longest 10 minutes of my life I won’t ever forget...
